I have always loved to draw and paint. This interest led me to pursue an education in the arts at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I graduated in 1987 with a BA in Humanities and a minor in Art History. After graduation, I moved to San Diego, California and enjoyed a career in retail sales and merchandising over the next several years. I missed creating art though, so I opened up my own business in 1996 called Paint, Glaze & Fire!, a ceramics studio, located in Encinitas, California. I enjoyed working with customers to help nurture and advance their own creativity, which led me to an interest in teaching, as well as wanting to get back to creating my own art. I sold my business in 1999, and began to focus on my art career and my teaching career. I spent many years working in the classroom with students ranging from K-12th grades. During this time I also helped to develop an art curriculum for a non-profit organization called ArtReach in San Diego. Since 2004, I have shown my work in many venues from large outdoor shows to several galleries in San Diego, Laguna Beach, Las Vegas and now Boise. I have done several projects for the NIH in Washington DC, ranging from custom paintings, to the use of my images on their website and seminar materials. I currently live in Boise, Idaho where I have been able to create a public art piece for the city as well as show my work on the cover of the Boise Weekly newspaper for the last five years. I have also been able to work with a local designer to help create custom artwork for her clients. In between paintings and projects I still love to teach, so I volunteer with the Artist In Residency program at the YMCA, where I work with cancer patients to help them develop their creative skills, while taking their mind off of their illness. I am lucky enough to have my own working studio located in downtown Boise, where I am always available for consultations and showings. I currently display and sell my work at Capitol Contemporary Gallery located at 451 S. Capitol Blvd. in Boise, ID.
